Companies based on UKSPA Science Parks can send up to three delegates to the Laboratories for the Future conference entirely free of charge. The commercial rate remains at £195.00 plus VAT.

The conference will cover a wide range of current issues featuring speakers from the USA as well as Europe. Sessions and Workshops include Laboratory Design and Planning, 'Flexible' Lab Space, Sustainability, Laboratory Security, Intellectual Property, Converting existing Lab Space, Laboratory Best Practice and Trends for the Future.

Free places at the event are courtesy of sponsorship from Scientific Laboratory Supplies who are organising 'The Scientific Laboratory Show' at the Conference. The History of UKSPA
Founded in 1984 by the managers of the eight Parks that then existed, UKSPA has gone from strength to strength. In the last twenty years the number of science parks has grown significantly (from 2 in 1982 to approximately 100 in 2002). There is still a strong regional and local focus to their establishment. What has continued to happen over the years is that many more UK Universities and centres of excellence in research have recognised the unstoppable trend and inherent value of science park development, and have created parks with associated management structures to help drive technology up the value chain by supporting tenant companies across a wide range of activities. » Read More

The Planning, Development and Operation of Science Parks, Second Edition

Published in 2006 this is a completely revised and fully comprehensive second edition of the UK Science Park Association's definitive guide to good practice in science park development and management. Edited by Dr Malcolm Parry Director of Surrey Research Park (University of Surrey) it offers insights and case studies which explore a broad range of topics and initiatives written by the leading light practitioners in the science park movement today.
  • written by experts
  • provides a framework of how to develop a science park
  • is a reference point for current thinking and practice
Topics covered include: Business incubation, property matters and legal aspects of development; the ideas it contains and describes are universal and the book is an essential buy for all those interested in science parks and what they are trying to achieve in terms of economic development, technology transfer, business incubation and commercialising science.

"The guide will make a significant contribution to current thinking and practice in the science park sector – essential for anyone already involved or starting out." David Kirby, former UKSPA Chairman
