Led by UK Research and Innovation, Strength in Places Fund (SIPF) is a new competitive funding scheme that takes a place-based approach to research and innovation funding, to support significant regional growth.

The fund aims to support consortia of research organisations, businesses and local actors (LEPs, Combined Authorities, enterprise bodies, economic development agencies) from existing clusters/economic geographies to deliver impact and drive innovation-led relative regional growth.

SIPF will support a wide range of activities (e.g. collaborative R&D, knowledge exchange, feasibility studies, demonstrator activities) through a mix of capital and revenue funding. Bids can be led by either research organisations or businesses and are open to any technological area, sector or research discipline.

The closing date for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from regional consortia is 25 July 2018, following this stage successful EOIs will receive up to £50K seedcorn funding to develop full stage proposals.
