ABOUT

SRA Architects is an award-winning architecture practice with a proven track record of delivering world class research & development (“R&D”) and laboratory projects.

We pride ourselves on the breadth of working relationships that we nurture with our clients and consultants within the industry. As a heavily serviced-focused business, we value long-term collaboration with our partners. One such example being with MEPC, at Milton Park their ‘thriving science and technology park in Oxfordshire’ where we have enjoyed a collaborative working relationship stretching over thirty years.

Over the past four decades, we have amassed a significant amount of experience and insight into the R&D and science sectors. Our experience ranges from science park masterplanning, new build developments, refurbishment & fit out projects. We work on a broad range of both pre-let and speculative developments and have developed a detailed knowledge of the technical aspects of laboratory and R&D building design. We have also amassed a significant appreciation of the challenges facing science-based businesses, understanding how to create inspiring, supportive & adaptable environments that nurture innovation, promote collaboration & growth.

 Our recent work includes:

  • The design and delivering of the first two buildings as part of the exciting development plans at Norwich Research Park which aims to consolidate the ecosystem of visionary research into food, genomics and health.
  • The development of a site wide masterplan at Grove Business Park in Oxfordshire to provide 380,000 sq ft of premium space for technology / R&D / life sciences and light industrial businesses.
  • For MEPC at Milton Park, we are currently involved with the design of a new 55,000sq ft flexible science incubator building and ‘Nebula’ an 80,000sq ft development specifically designed to provide flexible space for technology, life science and engineering companies.
  • At the Old Road Campus of University of Oxford, we recently delivered the Institute of Developmental and Regenerative Medicine (IDRM) a new £30m global research institute for 220+ world-leading researchers with cardiovascular, neuroscience and immunological expertise. The building was the first laboratory for the University design using Passivhaus principles.
  • We recently completed the Ida Freud Global Centre of Innovation for Infineum International Limited at their UK campus in Oxfordshire.
