More businesses than ever now call a leading Midlands science park their home and are reaping the benefits as a result, a new report has revealed.
The University of Warwick Science Park has released its Impact Report for 2024/25, which summarises the effects of its sites and its business support schemes on its tenants and start-ups, as well as the wider economy.
The latest report revealed the Science Park welcomed 21 new businesses across its sites at the University of Warwick, the Warwick Innovation Centre, the Business Innovation Centre in Binley, and Blythe Valley Innovation Centre near Solihull, taking its overall total to 161 tenants.
Additionally, 13 individuals are now members of the Science Park’s Ignite Business Lounge – a hub at the Venture Centre on Sir William Lyons Road where businesses can access Science Park support and a permanent business address without being a full-time tenant.
The report also showed the Science Park’s business support services continue to have a high impact. Just over 700 businesses were supported in some way between 2024/25, leading to the creation of 160 new jobs.
The Science Park also helped businesses and start-ups access £6.65m in finance through either raising equity, grants, or debt.
The latest impact report has been released at a busy time for the Science Park as it revamps its scale up space at the Vanguard Centre on its main site to feature state-of-the-art laboratory and office space for life science firms.
Mark Tock, Chief Operations Officer at the University of Warwick Science Park, said: “The University of Warwick Science Park team performed amazingly in the last financial year, so it’s great to see that dedication bearing fruit.
“Occupancy across our sites is higher than ever, and schemes such as our first Ignite Business Lounge are supporting businesses in new ways.
“The future is looking bright with the high-spec refurbishment of the Vanguard Centre well underway, and a recent refocus of our investment network Minerva Business Angels enabling us to provide a more targeted approach to high-growth start-ups in the Midlands.
“We’re very proud of our ongoing success, and we’re confident we can continue on this upward curve as we move through 2026.”
Greg Clark, Executive Chair of Warwick Innovation District, added: “It has been a year of achievement for the University of Warwick Science Park.
“At a time when the economy – nationally and globally – has often been uncertain, the innovation assets on campus and across our region that together form the Science Park have bucked these trends.
“Occupancy, new enquiries, businesses helped to start up and grow have all powered ahead this year. And as a result, we have been able to provide more funds than expected to invest in teaching and research.”
