Global accreditation for solar laboratory
Specialist R&D facilities on LUSEP include The Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology, which houses one of a handful of laboratories in the world with ISO17025 (calibration) accreditation to measure solar cells and modules.
Aerospace innovation boost
Further developments on LUSEP include a £9.8 million Government funding boost towards the establishment of a new facility that position Loughborough University as a primary UK hub for aerospace engineering and technology.
The National Centre of Excellence in Gas Turbine Combustion System Aerodynamics will focus on the development of future low emission aerospace combustion systems that will reduce the environmental impact of aircraft. The Centre will allow industrial problem-owners to visit and work closely with academic researchers to ensure that new technologies are translated from theory to practice as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Rolls-Royce will be a lead partner in the project, building on its existing relationship with Loughborough, and the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre, based on LUSEP.
CommAgility, the leading wireless technology company based at LUSEP, has just been awarded its second Queen’s Award for Enterprise in three years.
