The fundraising challenge will take place over the next 50 days in the lead up to Christmas
As we enter another national lockdown, Liverpool Science Park will once again remain open 24/7 for the essential health and tech work that goes on in its buildings, whilst the LSP team will also use this time productively to keep active and support the wider Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool) community.
From Thursday 5th November, employees at LSP will therefore be joining forces with colleagues from Sciontec Liverpool, Sensor City, Bruntwood SciTech and KQ Liverpool, to undertake a significant physical challenge, completing a distance of 500 miles within 50 days.
The LSP Team will consist of people of all ages and abilities, individually participating by running, cycling, rowing, hiking or walking sections of the 500 mile overall goal. Their cumulative efforts will result in the completion of over 800km, the equivalent of travelling from LSP to John O’Groats.
Team members will track and record their run, ride or row on smart phones and watches, and an online weekly progress update will be shared throughout lockdown right up to Christmas.
The two KQ Liverpool based organisations benefitting from this fundraising activity will be The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity and the Huntington’s Disease Association.

Dr Liz Bishop, Chief Executive at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Having recently moved into KQ Liverpool, we are delighted that LSP and other prominent organisations within the world-leading innovation district are undertaking fundraising activities in support of our charity.
“This will not only benefit local people’s lives in terms of cancer care but will lead to a thriving health and life sciences sector in Liverpool for years to come.”
