Interlligent UK RF & Microwave Training Programme 101 Hits 5-Year Milestone

Now in its fifth successful year, Interlligent UK’s RF & Microwave Engineering Training Programme 101 continues to provide industry practitioners with the essential knowledge and hands-on experience needed in the rapidly evolving A&D, satellite broadcast, remote sensing and telecommunications sectors. Designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, the programme is ideal for electronic engineering professionals looking to expand their expertise, transition into the PHY domain of RF and Microwave systems or simply refresh their understanding of current RF principles.

This year’s Microwave Engineering Training Programme 101 will commence on the 19th March and be delivered via Zoom. The 80-hour course spans 20 weekly sessions, each running for four hours on Wednesdays from 14.00 to 18.00 UK time. Catch-up options are available if participants cannot make all sessions. Key topics covered include:

  • Introduction and basic terms
  • System dynamic range: Noise budget and Non-linearity
  • Impedance matching and S-parameters
  • RF “building block” components
  • Receiver and transmitter architectures
  • RF ADCs and DACs
  • PLL synthesizers
  • Phase noise theory and measurements
  • IQ modulation and Vector Signal Analysis (VSA)
  • Antennas and phased arrays
  • The wireless channel

As well as providing a solid theoretical foundation on the topics studied, the programme also highlights the importance of practical test and measurement setups. Participants will also receive certified electronic copies of all training materials, including theoretical background papers, homework assignments with solutions, and presentation slides to facilitate ongoing learning.

Those looking to sign up should ideally understand the basic principles of Fourier transforms, Laplace transforms, random processes, and basic circuit theory. The programme, does however, provide theoretical background materials to accommodate those with no prior knowledge of RF systems and signal analysis techniques.

The programme will be led by Oren Hagai, CEO of Interlligent RF & Microwave Solutions, and TLV Millimetric Waves. With over 30 years of experience in RF and microwave design and training, as well as in-depth industry expertise, Oren is widely recognized as an authority in the field of microwave and RF. View his profile here.
