Major works have begun at Harlow Science Park, ahead of construction in 2018. Two separate contracts have been let by Harlow Council for the enabling works.
The new Spine Road is being constructed by Jackson Civil Engineering Ltd. The road will run north-south through the site, providing new road access to each of the plots. The works commenced at the beginning of October and is due to complete in January 2018, subject to weather conditions over the winter. In addition to the new road all the utilities necessary for the delivery and operation of Harlow Science Park, electricity, gas, water, sewage and telecommunications, will be installed.
In advance of the development commencing, Harlow Council is investing in the delivery of all necessary infrastructure requirements. This will facilitate the easy delivery of the first buildings, due to start on-site in 2018, and ensure that each plot is fully serviced. Additionally, it will ensure there is no need to return to the site to retro fit any services.
UK Power Solutions has been appointed to bring power supplies to the site, due to complete in December 2017. The works involved the Howard Way sub-station being upgraded and then the bringing of power cables in new trenches along the Netteswell Road cycle path and then along the verge of the A414 to Harlow Science Park. During the on-going works the cycle path will remain open. After the completion of the power supplies, UK Power Solutions will construct the first two electricity sub-stations on site in early 2018.
These works highlight the major commitment from Harlow Council to the delivery of Harlow Science Park, ensuring its future success. Vinci UK Developments and Wrenbridge, the Council’s development partners for the site, will then be able to commence the delivery of the first buildings in the early spring of 2018.
