Following a sustained increase in demand for design projects over the past financial year, BES, the specialist in delivery of complex projects for the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors, has increased its design team with 14 new roles.
The move follows a bumper year for BES, with 10 independent design commissions completed over the past 12 months, representing a combined value of £2.5 million. The company has also delivered a similar number of projects totalling circa £50 million during the same period, which combine design, engineering, construction and commissioning.
Located across the UK and spanning the pharmaceutical, biopharma, healthcare and medical devices sectors, the design projects have leveraged the expertise of BES’s multidisciplinary design team, including process, architecture, HVAC and electrical engineering. Comprising both feasibility studies and concept design, several of the commissions have led on to full turnkey construction contracts, capitalising on BES’s integrated service. Many of the design projects delivered by BES have been process-led and involved complex technical challenges, drawing on the technical expertise and specialist knowledge within the BES design team, along with the company’s array of technology platforms.
Design services have been an integral element of BES’s multidisciplinary offering since the company was first established almost two decades ago. Focusing on early engagement to ensure value engineering, buildability and cost and schedule certainty at design stage, the company utilise the breadth of knowledge and experience to assist clients in making informed decisions about their capex projects. The 14 new roles span varied design disciplines, including process engineering, architecture, HVAC, and electrical, bringing the company’s design team to 44 professionals.
With significant capital projects on the horizon, BES is continuing to identify talent to join its design team, in addition to training home grown skills with its apprenticeship programme. Alongside its investment in people, BES has also invested in a wide variety of advanced tech platforms to aid effective collaboration, accuracy and efficiency, ensuring the company maintains its position at the forefront of its sector.
Managing director, Steve Marsh, commented: “We have always had a strong design team and our people strategy ensures we have consistently recruited specialist skills at the right level to deliver reliably high service levels to clients as we grow.
“Over the past year, our design team has been pivotal to our growth and we are very proud of the way in which they have overcome the challenges of the pandemic and adopted new technology to provide a first class service to our clients. By investing in people across all disciplines, we have successfully delivered complex design commissions to tight timescales. We are extremely pleased to be creating opportunities within our team and offering clients a service tailored to their needs, from process and concept design through to construction and commissioning.”
