Clyde Gateway’s journey to becoming a recognised UK Science Park is about more than designation, it’s about building the conditions for long-term innovation, collaboration and inclusive economic growth.
At the heart of this is Red Tree Labs at Shawfield, a transformational development that will create a new home for high-growth businesses across life sciences and technology R&D. Designed as a flexible, research-led environment, Red Tree Labs will support everything from start-ups to scaling companies, providing the infrastructure and ecosystem needed for ideas to thrive.
Scheduled to break ground at the end of 2026, with an estimated 18-month construction programme, the development will combine world-class infrastructure with a supportive ecosystem. In doing so, Clyde Gateway will continue to attract investment and talent from across Scotland and beyond. Its location, just minutes from Glasgow city centre with excellent transport links, makes it an ideal destination for ambitious, forward-thinking businesses.
This ambition aligns closely with the strength of the wider UK Science Park Association (UKSPA) network. Being part of UKSPA connects Clyde Gateway to a national ecosystem of science parks, innovation districts and technology hubs, a network that plays a vital role in driving economic resilience, knowledge exchange and place-based growth across the UK.
That collective power was on full display recently at the UKSPA Spring Conference 2026, held in Glasgow’s City Innovation District. Bringing together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators from across the UK, the conference highlighted how collaboration between places, partners and sectors is essential to unlocking innovation-led growth. Discussions focused on strengthening communities, fostering talent pipelines, provision of much needed infrastructure and creating the right conditions for businesses to scale and succeed.
For Clyde Gateway, this reinforces the importance of what we are building in the East End of Glasgow.
Red Tree Labs is not just a building, it is part of a much wider ecosystem. Alongside ongoing investment, land remediation and infrastructure development across Shawfield and Dalmarnock, it will help attract world-class talent, inward investment and new opportunities for local communities.
As we continue to deliver on our vision, our focus remains clear: creating places where innovation can flourish, businesses can grow, and communities can benefit.
Because when the right buildings and ecosystem are in place, innovation doesn’t just happen, it accelerates.
