Research, Translation and Innovation Conference – Sept 2019

Norwich Research Park and Quadram Institute

John Innes Conference Centre, NR4 7UA

9th September 2019

This one-day event has four elements:

  • Highlighting the translational science vision and implementation at Norwich Research Park and its on-site and adjacent collaborative organisations – the Earlham Institute (plant genomics), the John Innes Centre (plant science, genetics and microbiology), the Quadram Institute (food science, gut biology and health), the Norwich and Norfolk University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the Sainsbury Laboratory (plant disease) and the University of East Anglia.
  • Showcasing, and providing tours of, the new building housing the Quadram Institute – the first time that this has been exposed to public view.
  • Exploring topics of relevance to the operation of translational and other research facilities, including design and use of office and write-up space; technical staff skills and careers; and biosafety.
  • Looking at effective translational research activities by other UKSPA members, and launching a proposed UKSPA translational special interest group with relevant interests and activities.

It is hoped that the latter will be enabled not only by the Conference, but also by an evening reception and presentation on/tour of one of Europe’s largest endoscopy units which, though part of the NHS, is located within the Quadram Institute building to foster close links with researchers. (separately bookable when details are confirmed).

The event is being jointly organised by S-Lab and UKSPA as the first of a series of specialised one-day events to allow in-depth discussions to take place on a specific topic.

This event complements UKSPA’s two-day events. The next UKSPA two day meeting will take place in early November 2019.

Booking

UKSPA members have two free tickets for this one day conference. A number of other organisations can also access complimentary tickets. Details of these and prices for commercial organisations can be found on the booking site.
