Birmingham Research Park is located on the University of Birmingham campus, and provides secure, high-quality office and laboratory space for a thriving community of research-led companies.
The principle aim of the Research Park is to provide the right resources and environment for companies to flourish.
Our tenants include young enterprises, spin-outs, and health technology innovators, who benefit from an on-site café, meeting rooms and break-out spaces, as well as an equipment sharing agreement with the University, membership of a biomedical purchasing consortium, and a package of health and well-being services.
The University boasts a wealth of research talent, and the Research Park is within easy walking distance of the Institute of Translational Medicine, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, and all departments at the University, providing easy access for collaboration with research partners, and the Precision Health Technologies Accelerator is also nearby,
Commercial spaces can be configured to meet tenants’ needs, allowing companies that locate here to expand while in residence.

BioHub Birmingham®
The BioHub is a purpose-built biomedical incubator based on the Birmingham Research Park, designed to grow biomedical companies from proof of concept through to expansion.
It has high calibre shared laboratory and single-occupancy office/laboratory suites, to provide grow-on space for tenant companies.
The BioHub offers tenants bespoke, flexible terms with flat monthly fees, and provides easy access to a breadth of potential academic and clinical collaborators at the nearby hospitals, medical school and University.
Tenants at the BioHub are supported by full-time, experienced laboratory staff, who can arrange access to expertise, services and equipment from the University of Birmingham, and have access to all the services provided at the Birmingham Research Park.

Unit 9
Based at Birmingham Research Park, the Unit 9 Med Tech Incubator provides short-term incubation for medical technology innovators to do initial research, proof-of-concept work, or prototyping, without an equipment cost burden.
Launched in 2022 to provide a launch pad for pre-revenue companies, Unit 9 houses innovators who are the start of their commercialisation journey, when they do not have the cash flow to commit to a long-term lease or buy expensive laboratory equipment.
Tenants pay a subsidised licence fee that rises to a commercial rate by year three, and University of Birmingham Enterprise works with companies to transition their operations to a new base with the West Midlands at the end of the licence period.
Facilities for cell culture or microbiology work are available at the adjacent Biohub Birmingham®.

Location
Birmingham Research Park is approximately 2 miles from Birmingham City Centre and adjacent to both the University of Birmingham’s main campus and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Park is a short walk from the University train station, with a frequent local rail service to Birmingham New Street and the City’s central business and shopping areas.
Birmingham is at the heart of the UK’s motorway network and both the National Exhibition Centre and Birmingham International Airport are within easy reach.
