Kent Science Park announces the opening of the HUB

Kent Science Park is pleased to announce the opening of The HUB a communal building providing new cafeteria and conference facilities for its growing number of hi-tech tenants. The £2m building – which officially opens in March – is located alongside the site’s Japanese gardens, and will provide a focal point for the park’s tenants and the wider business community.

Kent Science Park has seen significant development over the last few years, with the number of new and expanding businesses outgrowing the existing Eco Village cafeteria and meeting rooms. The HUB is designed to meet the current and future needs of tenants by combining high quality breakfast and lunchtime catering with state-of-the-art conference facilities. The flexible meeting space can be configured to provide one to three meeting rooms with full AV connectivity, accommodating up to 170 people in theatre-style seating. Each room opens into a mezzanine breakout area with magnificent views of the site’s ornamental gardens, providing an ideal venue for tenants’ meetings and events.

Simon Hoad, Executive Director for Kent Science Park, commented: “We are very excited to be opening The HUB to meet the growing needs of the park. This modern facility will provide our tenants with convenient access to high quality food and drinks prepared using local produce, and offers the meeting spaces essential for growing, forward-thinking businesses. The building also houses a new management suite, making it the true heart of the park.”

Gavin Cleary, Chief Executive of Locate in Kent, added: “The launch of The HUB at Kent Science Park is the perfect illustration of the confidence and ambition of the life science sector across the county. KSP is already an award winning location for life science businesses, and this facility will provide new opportunities to meet, exchange ideas and collaborate with fellow companies.”

“It’s nice to have somewhere you can take a real break from work and spend time in a relaxing environment,” commented Julie Fenwick, Office Manager at GW Pharmaceuticals. “The HUB is a wonderful addition to the KSP facility…great food, great service, conference rooms and some great meeting spaces, and all of this under one roof.”
