Job Vacancy at Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst: Part-Time Interim Finance Manager

As a not-for-profit life sciences campus, Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst (SBC) has supported innovation in healthcare since 2012. Co-located with GSK and home to the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult and LifeArc, SBC has helped its occupiers raise over £4bn in funding, with seven major exits to date.

We are recruiting for an Interim part-time Finance Manager (three days per week) on an initial six-month contract, with potential for extension.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role with real ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, from month-end reporting and budgeting to audit management and cash flow forecasting.

You’ll be part of a close-knit core team of 13, based on a buzzing, collaborative campus that’s home to 45 life sciences businesses, from early-stage start-ups to established organisations driving innovation in therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

MONTH END AND ANNUAL REPORTING CYCLES

  • Reporting to the CFO to manage and deliver on month end results and reports
  • Producing monthly management accounts and delivering variance analysis
  • Managing a cash flow forecast to understand business liquidity
  • Managing the budgeting & forecasting processes for the business
  • Managing external audit processes
  • Maintaining fixed asset records including capitalizations, amortization and disposals

TRANSACTIONAL SUPPORT WORKS

  • Overseeing all transaction processing
  • Managing the approvals of all major procurements
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly VAT returns
  • Supporting the company’s banking relationships
  • Maintaining and improving financial controls

OTHER PROJECTS

  • Leading certain small financial projects from time to time

The successful candidate for this Interim Finance Manager role will be ACA or ACCA qualified with a demonstrated background in operational finance, with experience owning month end processes. You will have a strong background in management accounting and prior experience with Xero coupled with excellent excel skills are essential.

Day Rate: £350 (Outside IR35)
