Carter Jonas has been appointed as the local letting agent for Silverstone Park – joining national agent DTRE, which has worked on the Silverstone Park instruction for the last four years and attracted many new tenants to the estate.

The 130-acre estate sits at the heart of the Silverstone Technology Cluster and Carter Jonas’s experience of the region – across the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford Corridor – proved instrumental in it being awarded the contract by Silverstone Park developer MEPC.

MEPC’s Roz Bird, Commercial Director at Silverstone Park, commented: “There is terrific value in appointing Carter Jonas as our local agent – they will be able to champion Silverstone Park in the local property market with our local agency community and provide local market analysis, while also demonstrating that our site is eminently deliverable, with 2.1m sq ft of planning consent, 21 MVA of new power, plus Enterprise Zone status which lowers the costs for companies moving to the estate.

“Furthermore, Carter Jonas will have a hot desk in our Innovation Centre and will therefore be able to handle viewings at short notice.”

Jon Silversides, Partner, Commercial for Carter Jonas, said: “We are delighted to have been selected by MEPC as local agents for this iconic high profile instruction and very much look forward to both promoting the existing and new schemes coming forward as well as ensuring that Silverstone Park’s offer is more widely recognised.

“Whilst the appeal of this location to the motorsport community is obvious, we believe that the offering here will be of interest to a much wider scope of occupiers for either geographic reasons given the Park’s central role in the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford Corridor or the attraction of the locally based and highly skilled precision engineering workforce which, in turn, has a cross-over into a myriad of technologies.”

She added: “I met with the main guys in the local agency community and, I have to say, the conversations were inspiring – a high level of experience, enthusiasm and market knowledge and great deals being done!

“When I had to pick one agent, I slightly wished I could have appointed a slice of each of them! I’m certainly looking forward to some local agent gatherings at Silverstone Park over the coming months and years, so we can stay in touch and keep everyone informed about our plans.

“However, there were two key areas where Carter Jonas stood out. Firstly, they are successfully growing in both Oxford and Cambridge and are already committed to understanding and developing relationships within the Silverstone Technology Cluster, to make sure that potential occupiers consider Silverstone Park.

“Secondly, they are investing in their recruitment process. They are recruiting graduates and are looking to attract more women into the property industry. The consideration for equality and diversity within their workforce makes business sense to MEPC.

“We want to be surrounded by advisers that represent a wide range of experience, skills and new ideas. We believe that this will produce a robust team with a well-rounded view of the world and ultimately good advice. This way of thinking is also becoming increasingly important to our customers and to society in general.”

Meanwhile DTRE’s Jamie Catherall said: “We’re welcoming Carter Jonas to the Silverstone Park team. The first phase of speculative development has brought great success and we are very much looking forward to the next phase on the Park and forming a relationship with the new members of the team. With over 130 acres of consented land the potential on site to add quality buildings and occupiers is still huge.”
