Baltic Quarter is part of a 40-acre site with plots available for development. The business park currently offers over 100,000 sq ft of studio space across four modern buildings, all of which offer flexible terms to support young and growing businesses. 

Within Baltic Quarter, the Northern Design Centre is a hub for design led innovation with knowledge driven companies working in fields such as architecture, software development, video games, digital and web technology, design and film production. 

Next door to the Northern Design Centre is PROTO: The Emerging Technology Centre. PROTO is the regions’ premier location for new and innovative digital disruption companies. It’s specialist R&D facility showcase’s the latest emerging technologies and focuses on accelerating industry adoption of immersive technology. 

PROTO is also home to the Digital Catapults Advanced Media Production Studio which was developed with industry experts Target3D and is funded by Innovate UK. The Studio is at the forefront of UK innovation and is leading the way in converging technologies and virtual environments, transforming media production processes.

Baltimore House provides studios for digital, technology and high growth businesses especially those seeking to commercialise the development of new technologies and is home to some key business support organisations.

Finally, the newest addition to Baltic Quarter, RIGA provides ‘grade A’ grow on space for more established companies. Self-contained suites provide open floorplates of up to 8,845 sq ft for businesses who require larger commercial office space.

Baltic Quarter Soft Landing Programme provides spin outs, international investors and other qualifying business with access to business support programmes and low risk, affordable and flexible studios, fully equipped and ready to use, reducing downtime and set up costs.

Design Network North offers support, advice and business opportunities to its members as together they seek to raise the importance of design in business. 

IMMEX City is a cluster development programme funded through the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund and delivered by Digital Catapult. It seeks to:

• Develop and grow the cluster of immersive technology businesses in Gateshead,
• Increase the North East’s share of the immersive technology market, and
• Support the diffusion and adoption of immersive and allied technologies by wider industry to drive productivity improvements in the economy.

The Entrepreneurs’ Forum helps a 300 strong group of owner / managers develop, create new opportunities and grow their business by sharing ideas, knowledge, connections, inspiration and opportunities. 

Gateshead College work closely with local employers to deliver high quality training and building talented workforces to meet the business skills challenges of the future.

Gateshead is a vibrant, cost-effective location for investment and has seen a huge economic restructure over the last three decades. From reliance on heavy industry, Gateshead now has a diversified economy including high tech manufacturing and knowledge intensive services.

Baltic Quarter is less than one mile from central Newcastle, four miles from the 700 businesses on Team Valley Trading Estate and seven miles from the International Advanced Manufacturing Park based around Sunderland Nissan.
