UKSPA has announced a new partnership with End Game to develop an asset-mapping platform that will support the creation of a common framework and national standard for the UK’s science parks and innovation clusters.
Announced during the UKSPA Summer Conference 2026, the partnership marks one of the first steps in delivering UKSPA’s new strategy and its commitment to strengthening the evidence, understanding and long-term development of the sector.
At the heart of the collaboration will be the development of a shared framework, led by UKSPA, to provide a consistent way to understand, measure and demonstrate the capabilities, utilisation and impact of science parks, innovation clusters and other innovation locations across the UK.
Led and managed by UKSPA, the framework will bring together a shared methodology, taxonomy, metrics, standards and benchmarking model, creating a common approach that can be adopted across the sector. It will help provide a stronger evidence base for members, support more consistent benchmarking and give government and policymakers greater confidence in the information used to inform future policy, funding and investment decisions.
The digital asset-mapping platform, developed by End Game Labs, will provide the practical means of applying, testing and refining the UKSPA framework. By enabling members to capture, analyse and benchmark data in a consistent way, it will support the development and adoption of the common national standard while ensuring the framework continues to evolve in response to the needs of the sector.
Early pilot projects with UKSPA members will help demonstrate the value of the framework and inform its future development before wider adoption across the membership.
Ruth Hall, Chief Executive of UKSPA, said: “One of the key priorities in our new strategy is to define and position science parks, clusters and places of innovation more clearly, and developing a common framework and national standard is a significant step towards achieving that.
“This partnership will help us build a stronger evidence base for the sector, creating a more consistent way to understand and demonstrate the value of science parks and innovation clusters, across varying governance structures, and enable success to be replicated across regions to deliver regionally, nationally and internationally.
“We are committed to working with UK companies and supporting UK innovation, with a clear focus on digital sovereignty. As an organisation, we understand the importance of enabling organisations and regions to retain control of, and securely manage, their own digital infrastructure and data. We believe this is fundamental to resilience, trust and long-term economic growth.
“Our decision to partner with End Game is a deliberate demonstration that digital sovereignty is a priority for us. At the same time, the project will deliver significant benefits for our members, strengthen our relationships with government and policymakers, and help ensure that the contribution of our sector is better recognised, better understood and more effectively reflected in policy and public debate.”
Giles Harridge, Co-Founder of End Game, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with UKSPA on a project that has the potential to transform how the capabilities of the UK’s science parks and innovation clusters are visualised, understood and evidenced. By combining a shared framework with practical digital tools, we can help create a consistent approach that supports members today by providing valuable insights for the future.”
The partnership is one of the first steps in delivering UKSPA’s new strategy, strengthening the evidence, insight and understanding that will support science parks and innovation clusters across the UK.
