Tangent Design was created back in 1991, joined us six years ago with 4 employees and big plans, and has blossomed over the past 4 years.
Back then they moved into one of our medium sized offices and immediately made themselves at home. It was a pleasure to have them in the centre (SBIC), there was a buzz around them!
They quickly became one of the established businesses and when we decided to launch the first Pioneer 10 competition Pete gladly offered to get involved. Pioneer 10 was designed to fuel the growth of industry and innovation in Stockport. The panel of judges selecting 10 businesses, including start-ups, to receive one to one coaching and guidance from our experienced business experts. Following that phase, two of these would be selected for a long term, high value, business support package leveraging the resources of Oxford Innovation and partners.
Tangent became one of these partners, Pete became a stalwart of the judging panel and, importantly, offered to coach and provide the FREE support element focusing on any creative or web services to our finalists.
Building a community of businesses here at the centre has been a huge part of our success to date and Tangent have been at the heart of that.
In their new home…….
From moving in Pete had always had his eye on a suite of offices he wanted the business to grow into. These were not developed, had access to a great balcony overlooking the front of the mill and had real potential.
In November 2015, after talking it through, we agreed they could develop the space and they wasted no time designing the perfect bespoke, bigger new home for Tangent. This included a dedicated meeting room, store room and open plan office space with a kitchen.
While all this was happening Adam quietly got on with all things work related! (HAHAHA)
Once settled, they continued to grow and fill their new office suite with a head count totalling 12 members of staff. The inevitable happened earlier this year as they looked for their next, even bigger home………
They moved out last Friday into their new HQ and will now have their own front door! It really has been a pleasure seeing them develop and grow and achieve the success all their hard work and planning has delivered.
They left with our very best wishes, we see it as a job well done, a graduation from SBIC, with hopes that they continue to flourish as they did here in the centre.
