We Are One: Building the Nexus Community

It’s now twelve months since we opened the doors at Nexus, and the community we have built here is something we’re immensely proud of.

To mark the occasion, and as we look forward the start of our second year, I’m delighted to share with you some of the successes and enormous progress we have made so far in our new report ‘We Are One: Building the Nexus Community.

Alongside our progress, we’ll also share stories from our community and explore the innovative projects they’ve created this year, which have contributed to a c.£2m increase in collective turnover. We’ll give you a glimpse of the 32+ collaborative projects they’ve been working on with the University and hear about the £3.5m investment in R&D related activities. Through the impactful relationships we’ve helped them develop, member businesses have reaped the rewards of collaborating with the University, collectively securing £10.8m of grant funding – an outstanding achievement in just 12 months.

Our members are already contributing to our region’s economic growth with 125+ new highly skilled jobs created in the past 12 months. What’s even more impressive is, collectively, they’re planning to create 350 more jobs over the next year, and we look forward to supporting them achieve this by helping them access the fantastic University talent pool.

Whilst this is an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate all that’s been achieved so far, we habitually look forward and are excited to see how Nexus can facilitate future partnerships with businesses to drive impact for our region.
