Greiner Bio-One in the UK is delighted to be partnering with Forest Green Rovers, described by FIFA as “The World’s Greenest Football Club.” Forest Green also became the first football club in the world to become 100% vegan (accredited by the vegan society) and in 2018 were recognised by the United Nations, receiving a “Momentum for Change” climate action award after becoming the first football club in the world to work with the UN to go carbon neutral.

The club play their home matches only 8 miles from Greiner Bio-One’s UK facility in Gloucestershire. The stadium is at the end of a road named ‘Another Way’ and doing things differently is in its DNA! The stadium is powered entirely by 100% green energy, the pitch is organic, free from pesticides and weed killers and is cut using an electric ‘mow-bot’, a GPS solar powered lawnmower. Furthermore, the pitch is watered using rainwater collected from the stadium roof rather than using mains water.

The partnership will see us support their community schemes including tackling loneliness, community meals, girls’ football, soccer camps, mental health talk club and more.

Dale Vince, the Chairman of Forest Green Rovers and founder of green energy company, Ecotricity has also been a guest on our Greiner Talks podcast where he discussed the environmental footprint and energy, food and mobility .

“It’s great to bring Greiner Bio-One on board to partner with FGR Community – their support will allow us to do even more to support and deliver projects that make a real difference.” Henry Staelens, CEO Forest Green Rovers.
