The Golden Valley Development and Cheltenham Borough Council have selected HBD X Factory, a joint venture between UK property developer HBD and the international innovation campus developer Factory, to be their Preferred Development Partner.
HBD X Factory has a significant role in the delivery of the £1billion first stage of the project located in West Cheltenham, opposite GCHQ and Gloucestershire College’s Cheltenham campus.
Spanning 200 hectares of land, the Golden Valley Development will play a significant role in the region’s economic recovery, providing 3,700 low-carbon homes, almost 12,000 jobs and an attractive range of open spaces and leisure facilities.
Located in the heart of the Development, 2 million square feet of commercial space will be devoted to Cyber Central UK, the UK’s first 24/7 tech campus, aiming to deliver the nation’s ambitions of being the safest place to do online business globally.
Speaking about the announcement, Matt Warman, Minister for Digital Infrastructure, DCMS said:
“Cheltenham is an engine of growth for the UK’s cyber security sector and the Golden Valley Development will play a major role cementing the country’s place as a global leader in the field. We are investing to help cyber security businesses across the country tackle barriers to growth and boost people’s digital skills so we can usher in a golden age in UK tech.”
Welcoming the new preferred Development Partner, Councillor Rowena Hay, Leader of Cheltenham Borough Council, said:
“I am so proud that Cheltenham is on the fast-track to become an international destination for the growing cyber security sector whilst maintaining the ethos and character of the town and region. After a thorough, detailed procurement and evaluation process, and having demonstrated they have the experience and ability to deliver the Council’s objectives and aspirations HBD X Factory was selected as the preferred partner.”
Speaking on behalf of the Preferred Developer, Adam Brady, HBD X Factory, said:
“HBD X Factory focus on truly transformative regeneration projects and delivering world leading new districts throughout the UK. The Golden Valley Development is a really exciting project and we look forward to bringing it to life.”
