The multi-sector technology organisation ESL Group, which also has offices in Poland, Singapore and California, is moving its EMEA headquarters to Plymouth Science Park.

ESL Group specialises in providing digital solutions to a range of business needs across different sectors, including assisted living, smart energy, disaster response and prevention, data management and financial services.

The move to Plymouth Science Park comes as ESL Group announces plans to establish a new cross-sector service operations centre in Plymouth which, amongst other things, will handle remote device management for caregivers monitoring patients in their own homes. The centre is expected to create jobs and boost the region’s economy.

The group is also planning to relocate its space and defence business to the new Oceansgate Phase 2 industrial units in Plymouth by the end of 2020 which will see the creation of up to six apprenticeship roles.

Chairman Russ Cole said “I am very excited to bring ESL Group to Plymouth Science Park. We are working on digital solutions to support a range of sectors. The same remote device management which is currently used by caregivers is being presented to the British Army to assist them in the management of barracks, ranges and training areas and in preparing a holistic disaster response and prevention solution for the Home Office. The tremendous multi-sector ecosystem at Plymouth Science Park will enable us to leverage and expand our capabilities in the South West and create new job opportunities for the local area.”

The group will become one of over 100 companies operating out of the Science Park, which positions itself as a hub for environmental and marine science, advanced engineering, medical research and digital creative services. There are over 1,000 people currently employed in these sectors at the Park.

Fay Davies, Business Development Manager at Plymouth Science Park, said: “We are very pleased to welcome ESL Group to the Park and look forward to supporting them to deliver cutting-edge digital solutions to the global marketplace from the heart of Plymouth.

“Technology is now the fastest-growing sector in the South West, but too much home-grown talent is lost as graduates move away for better employment opportunities. It is fantastic to see businesses like ESL Group recognise the potential of our region for business growth and bring their expertise, experience and career opportunities to the area.”
