This event entitled ‘Research and Technology Platforms Open for Innovative Business’ will feature speakers from the John Innes Centre\, Earlham Institute\, Quadram Institute and UEA highlighting the technology platforms developed at Norwich Research Park\, revealing their origin\, and presenting case studies on their applications and discoveries. The speakers will delve into the funding sources for these platforms\, showcase their practical implementations in various industries and their critical role in enabling businesses to access expertise. \nThe second half of the agenda is an interactive panel discussion titled “Strengthening Engagement through ‘Science Push’ and ‘Industry Pull”. DESCRIPTION:UKSPA members and stakeholders will gather at STEAMhouse\, powered by Birmingham City University\, on Wednesday 26th June and Thursday 27th June\, for the UKSPA Summer Conference 2024. The Conference will be hosted by STEAMhouse\, with the plenary sessions taking place at their dedicated conferencing facilities. There will also be opportunities to tour their state-of-the-art facilities\, including their new Digital Lab\, Production and Creative Spaces. \nThe two days will consider and debate current national and regional trends around Driving a Thriving Local Innovation Ecosystem\, Building Reuse\, Retrofitting and Health\, Wellbeing and Sustainable Buildings. \nUnlike many previous events\, the Summer Conference will be held over Wednesday and Thursday\, starting at 11:00 on Wednesday and concluding on Thursday lunchtime. Throughout the two days\, leading speakers from the UKSPA network and key partners and stakeholders will discuss in-depth the challenges\, opportunities\, and innovative ways the sector continues to engage\, inspire\, and grow. \nAbout Our Hosts\nOnce an integral part of Birmingham’s industrial past\, the Victorian section of STEAMhouse was originally the headquarters for the Eccles Rubber and Cycle Company. In 2007\, most of the building was destroyed by fire and remained derelict until being restored by Birmingham City University and re-launched as STEAMhouse in 2022. \nSTEAMhouse is a symbol of Birmingham’s commitment to industry and arts – a first-of-its-kind centre for collaborative innovation working at the intersection of Science\, Technology\, Engineering and the Arts (STEAM). \nConference Programme\nThe outline Conference Programme will be available to download shortly.
