Engine Shed appoints Briony Phillips as its Associate Director

Engine Shed has announced the appointment of Briony Phillips as Associate Director. Briony has been part of Engine Shed’s team since May 2017 as the organisation’s Scale Up Enabler. The new position will continue to focus on development of the scale up ecosystem and support of the Growth Hub, with part funding of the role by WECA for this purpose.

The appointment sees Engine Shed boost its capacity and capability as it continues to drive long term, sustainable and inclusive economic growth for Bristol and Bath. This includes plans for Engine Shed 2 and Engine Shed 3, which are both in the planning process and due to come online in the next few years.

Briony brings a wealth of experience in different organisations including Teach First, Open Data Institute, Deloitte and a start-up funded by Nominet Trust. During her time as Engine Shed’s Scale Up Enabler, Briony has introduced Quarterly Investment Briefings aimed at the investor community, Scale Up briefings for founders, developed the Scale Up strategy for the West of England, introduced a new Property Advisor-in-Residence to tackle the office space challenge and facilitated hundreds of connections to support entrepreneurs advance their growth plans.

Commenting on her appointment, Briony said: “I’m delighted to be appointed which means I can continue to deliver our scale up activities and support Engine Shed as we scale up too. It’s been rewarding to see how we have been able to support both entrepreneurs and investors as we actively work towards an inclusive regional economy. “
