As part of Medilink Midlands strategic growth plans, the company is excited to announce that it has become the latest organisation to take space at Charnwood Campus the rapidly growing science, innovation and technology park.

As the Midlands life sciences industry association, Medilink Midlands strives to help the sector grow and in so doing supports the ongoing development of the regional offer. Charnwood Campus is a key part of this as the UK’s first Life Sciences Opportunity Zone, designated DIT High Potential Opportunity area and Enterprise Zone. The mix of world-class flexible laboratories, specialist manufacturing facilities and office space, coupled with a wide range of amenities, technical and clinical resources, makes it ideally suited to being a focal point of the regional life sciences ecosystem.

Medilink has worked closely with Charnwood Campus since it took ownership of the site in 2014, having recognised the potential of the assets and the opportunities that these held for the Midlands’ life science community and its own growing network.  Similarly, Charnwood Campus have always been a member, a keen advocate and a supporter of Medilink, recognising the unique value their activities bring to the life sciences sector. Working more closely together to help realise the collective ambitions for the region including plans for an increased Medilink presence on site have always been a part of a long-term vision shared by both organisations.

Following the creation of Medilink Midlands and with Charnwood Campus recently securing another anchor tenant, Medilink Midlands member – Charnwood Molecular, the time to take the partnership to the next level and have a physical presence on the Campus has come.

By locating on the Charnwood Campus, Medilink intends to play an instrumental role in the ongoing development of the local sector community. This includes plans to build upon and expand the current events offering to  life sciences organisations, partner with Charnwood Campus to drive sector growth and increase the support offering  with the intention for Charnwood Campus to become a central location and hub of activity.

Darren Clark, Chief Executive of Medilink Midlands, said: “Charnwood Campus has always been a great friend to Medilink. It has always been seen as a gem for the region and their commitment to creating a life science ecosystem makes it a natural choice for us to establish a base. With our own position in the Midlands life science community, we look forward to helping to realise the full potential of the Campus.”

Gosia Khrais, Commercial Director at Charnwood Campus, added: “Charnwood Campus offers lab and office space. We are introducing a range of business support activities including expert networks meetings, business mentoring sessions, upskilling and recruitment assistance to new and existing life sciences companies from the region. We warmly welcome Medilink Midlands as a new occupier that shares our ambition to accelerate the growth of the sector in the Midlands. We hope to take our partnership to the next level and develop a tailored and robust framework of support where complementarity of expertise between the two organisations brings unparalleled value to organisations looking to grow and scale-up. ”
