Anglia Ruskin on Target for award

ARU shortlisted in TARGETJobs award category for best university employability strategy

Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) has been shortlisted for a national award for its employability strategy, centred on enabling its students to get graduate jobs.

ARU will be represented in the category of Best University Employability Strategy at the TARGETJobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards in London.

The judges, made up of graduate employers, recognise universities who are invested in providing their undergraduate students with a broad range of skills beyond academic achievement so that they leave university with the best chance of future success.

ARU works in partnership across professional services, course teams and with business, industry, professions and major civic and community organisations to integrate employability into its curriculum, ensuring it is providing the skills and professional attributes that employers need.

Every undergraduate degree incorporates real-world work experience as an integral part of assessed core modules across all years of the degree.

ARU’s senior management is actively engaged in this work, with Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Professor Yvonne Barnett, leading the University Employability Advisory Group.

Professor Barnett said:

“I am extremely proud of all the work that goes on at ARU to ensure our students leave us with the best possible chance of success in their chosen professional field.

“While a university degree is about far more than just employability, our departments work closely together to embed the skills that employers are telling us that they need into each of our courses.

“This nomination is testament to our hard-working staff who have informed, developed and adopted our strategy, and who are working tirelessly to implement a range of key initiatives.”

The awards will take place in July at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, with around 1,400 guests expected to attend.
