UKSPA Executive Team

UKSPA operates from Chesterford Research Park, near Cambridge and has a small Executive Team which delivers the day-to-day services for Members.

James Chaffer – Chief Executive

James was appointed as Chief Executive of UKSPA in January 2022.  Prior to this, he served as Operations Director for the University of Nottingham Innovation Park (UNIP), where he was responsible for 100,000 sqft of office space for technology startups, spin-outs and SMEs.

James is an experienced technology professional, with an extensive background in financial and management software development.  Prior to making the switch to running an innovation environment, he accumulated almost 25 years in the software industry, primarily providing management systems and consultancy services to innovation, incubation, science and technology park clients across the UK.  During this time, he also served as a non-executive director of UKSPA for six years, representing the interests of Business Affiliates on the Board.

Louise Tilbrook, Membership Administrator

Louise Tilbrook joined UKSPA in January 2018, having left her previous role as a Clinical Scientist in the NHS. Louise has a background in delivery of clinical services and clinical communication across several hospital sites and has worked with quality management systems to ensure effective service provision. She has also played a role in editorial content and support for various professional journals and newsletters.

Louise is the Membership Administrator and is responsible for the day to day maintenance of the website, social media updates and other member communications.

Adrian Sell, Head of Membership & Communications

Adrian has a number of years experience within the manufacturing sector including as Membership and Events Director at the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) and was subsequently appointed board director of The Association of Exhibition Organisers (AEO).

Adrian has worked on a number of initiatives over a sustained period within the manufacturing sector including representation, publishing and the launch of numerous events and conferences particularly within the digital manufacturing sector. In his role at UKSPA  he is responsible for the production and delivery of communications and all other activities that promote UKSPA and the Science & Innovation Sector both online, in print and events. Adrian also delivers the activities that sustains the highest level of engagement with members and also attracts new members to the Association.
