The United Kingdom Science Park Association: Application For Membership The term Science Park describes a business support environment that encourages and supports the start-up, incubation and development of innovation-led, high-growth, knowledge-based businesses; initiatives called by other names such as Research Park, Innovation Centre, Technology Park, Technopole or technology-based Incubator – where they aspire to meet the essential criteria set out above are also included within the definition. Full Membership is for those organisations which are fully operational, having a site, buildings, tenants and a management function. Associate Membership is the membership category applicable to Innovation-based Parks and Technology-based Incubators which are being planned and where the developers intend to work towards the Association's definition of a science park. An additional category is that of Affiliate Membership, reserved for organisations whose objectives and activities have common ground with those of the Association and where membership, which will be by invitation, could be mutually beneficial.
