HDR CUH2A

is the world’s largest architecture, engineering and planning firm dedicated to innovative design for the advancement of science. Founded in 1962, HDR CUH2A has designed over 60 million square feet of highly-complex research facilities, including containment laboratories. HDR CUH2A is headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, with additional offices in Atlanta, New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Dubai and London.

HDR CUH2A is proud to have previously been one of the principal UKSPA sponsors between 2006 and 2009. The enlightened approach of UKSPA over the past few years has made the organisation one of the leaders in the science park movement with an international reputation for providing guidance and advice in support of science-based businesses. This base of knowledge combined with the financial support of its members and sponsors will ensure even greater success in the coming years.

HDR CUH2A’s London office focuses on the planning and design of science parks. Their design team includes professional site planners, strategic facilities planners, architects, laboratory planners and landscape designers. HDR CUH2A understand the importance of aligning the design concept with the business strategy of the development, addressing more than the technical concerns of a research community. Science Parks have emerged as an effective way to transfer knowledge across various sectors of the research and development community, from institutions of higher learning and international biopharmaceutical corporations, to small start-up and emerging technology companies. HDR CUH2A’s conceptual designs for the master planning of Science Parks foster this communication and dynamic intellectual energy.

Overly functional planning – narrowly focused on spaces, utilities, and efficiencies alone – will not encourage the realisation of vital communities. HDR CUH2A’s master planning encourages a Science Park to evolve into a vibrant community; HDR CUH2A understand the importance of providing a ‘heart’ to the community. Their planning reflects their commitment to the well-being of the people who will work there.

HDR CUH2A’s integrated design approach weaves together the multifaceted requirements of a Science Park, including innovation with historical precedents; technology required by an individual company with organisational efficiencies; and cost-effective alternatives for large and small organisations alike. HDR CUH2A create a blueprint for synergy – where the result is greater than the sum of parts – meeting tomorrow’s technical needs while incorporating the past successes of organically evolved research communities.
