Vision
BioPark is the 'Outer London' science park and as a regional Enterprise Hub is tasked with accelerating innovation and fostering enterprise through offering bioscience and health technology businesses high quality grow-on space combined with local business support.

Accommodation
BioPark offers a range of laboratory configurations in floor areas from 50 to 100 square metres – ideal for drug discovery, diagnostics and medtech research and development. Most laboratories have write-up areas and associated offices. Together with 24/7 security, BioPark also provides administrative support services and conference and meeting room facilities, including a 66-seat lecture theatre, for use by tenants and others.

Cat 3 laboratory suite A new two-storey extension has been recently completed to provide an additional 1,000 square metres of lab and business incubation office space.

Cat3 High-level Containment Laboratory Suite
BioPark has one of the few Cat3 laboratories available for rent in the UK. Built to current ACDP CL3 requirements, the facility has a total working area of 140 square metres.

Location
BioPark is ideally situated for domestic and international travel, being just 40 minutes by rail from London's King's Cross station. There is good road access to the UK motorway networks with the M1, A1(M) and M25 being a ten minute drive. Three London airports, Heathrow, Luton and Stansted can all be reached by road in around an hour. There are 200 parking spaces and for additional convenience a large retail centre with banks, etc., is a ten minute walk away.

Being a tenant at BioPark offers exceptionally good networking and collaboration opportunities, as it sits at the centre of the Cambridge-Oxford-London research 'golden triangle', within which are located key clinical research centres, Universities, pharmaceutical multinationals and over 400 biotechnology companies.

Permanent Tenants and 'Virtual Office' Clients Welcome

BABS Biomarker Services
Lecture Theatre A new biomarker assay service is now available at BioPark (www.BABSbiomarkerservices.co.uk). The service is provided by a consortium including BioPark and their tenant company, ABS Labs under GLP/GCP conditions, offering:
  1. 'Full Service' for clients – small or large batch biomarker assay.
  2. 'Assisted Service' – clients pay for use of the facility to perform assays on their own samples (after training and under appropriate supervision).
  3. The opportunity for clients to pay for use of the facility in order to develop their own assays for novel biomarkers (after training and under appropriate supervision).
The facility utilises a Meso Scale Discovery (MSD) Multi-Array detection unit, 'MSD SECTOR Imager 6000', to read and quantify a wide range of single and multiplex kits for biomarkers, cell signalling pathways and immunogenicity assays. The detector unit is based on electro-chemiluminescence technology, the assay kits also being provided by MSD. This platform has become the industry standard within many large pharmaceutical companies for supporting in-vitro, preclinical and clinical drug discovery and development (www.mesoscale.com).

Funding for BABS has been generously provided by the East of England Development Agency, EEDA (www.eeda.org.uk).
