The York Science Park development now spans four incubation buildings – Innovation Centre, Bio Centre, IT Centre and The Catalyst – grow-on space in Enterprise House and pre-incubation space in Springboard. Situated on the University of York Campus, at the innovative hub of a prestigious heritage and science city, York Science Park plays a pivotal role in the technology transfer and business development for the city's knowledge, bioscience, creative, media and IT-based enterprises. It provides high specification, fully serviced and managed business accommodation in a highly professional and dynamic environment.The Innovation Centre was established in 1995 and continues to attract a wide range of companies from various sectors. Combining specialist equipment, business support, office services and relaxation facilities, the Innovation Centre is the perfect environment in which to launch and grow a business. The Bio Centre provides access to the University of York's outstanding expertise, research and facilities in the fields of Bioscience, Biology and Chemistry. Numerous bioscience-based companies are located in the centre and around the York area, making the Park the premier choice for new and established scientific companies. In addition to fully-serviced offices and a range of support facilities, the Bio Centre features ACDP Cat 2 laboratory facilities with the ability to convert to Cat 3. The IT Centre offers specifically-designed ICT features for IT and digital companies. Facilities include a secure on-site data centre with internet hosting facilities, up to 20MB broadband on demand and Cat 6 wiring throughout. The building is fully alarmed, with CCTV and swipe card access. The Catalyst is a fully managed incubation space specifically designed for the Creative, Media, IT and Digital sectors and is embedded within the University of York's £750 million campus expansion at Heslington East. The new incubator is co-located with Theatre Film & TV, Computer Science, The Ron Cooke Hub, and Law and Management, giving residents unique access to the facilities and expertise of the University of York, a world top 100 university and the current Times Higher Education University of the Year.Springboard is York Science Park's exciting new incubation space for pre start-up companies. Springboard's aim is to ignite ideas and transform them into lucrative, sustainable businesses by providing low-cost yet high-quality office accommodation. Springboard residents benefit from being located in the Ron Cooke Hub at the very heart of the University's new campus, providing a unique opportunity for creative engagement between businesses, entrepreneurs and the academic community. Businesses have direct access to the University's Research Innovation Office and Science City who are co-located in Springboard, offering further support in helping new ventures to establish and grow. This business interactive space, plus The Catalyst has been supported by investment awarded to Science City York from the European Regional Development Fund in Yorkshire & the Humber. In addition to its incubation centres, the Park also has Enterprise House, a lightly managed building providing grow-on space for incubated or other later-stage companies. Together, Enterprise House and the incubation centres give York incubation space to support the development of start-up and growth-stage companies, enabling them to 'punch above their weight'. Park Central is a vibrant cafe, exhibition and display area designed to foster networking and business collaboration between the Park's occupiers. This inspirational facility is also open to the general public, allowing occupiers' friends and family the opportunity to visit the Park and experience the thriving environment. York Science Park fosters a strong partnership with the University of York – the top-rated University for research in the North of England, which has world-class research across all disciplines, including high-ranking departments of Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science. A state-of-the-art Biology technology facility housing high-tech equipment costing over 7 million pounds, with 19 dedicated staff, enables tenant companies to access technology platforms and some of the highest research and thought leaders. The Research Innovation Office, based at York Science Park, has a dedicated team liaising with those in commerce and industry wishing to access the expertise and facilities of the University of York. They also fund collaborative research, provide professional development and training and contract research.York itself is a growing hot spot of development in the Bioscience, digital, media and IT fields. In York Science Park's partnerships with other organisations they hope to provide a gateway of development to the UK and Europe. The Park works closely with Science City York, an economic development initiative of City of York Council in partnership with the University, supported by Yorkshire Forward, the RDA for Yorkshire and the Humber. Over the last decade, Science City York have assisted in the formation of more than 100 companies and over 2,800 new jobs in the added-value science and technology sector, many of whom chose to be located on the Science Park. Companies based on the Park are encouraged to join one of the Science City York business networks and attend various events to facilitate networking, supply chain development and opportunities for collaboration. York Science Park also offers a full and varied conference and events service and has a whole range of rooms superbly equipped to suit a range of requirements. The largest room the Conference Suite accommodates up to 60 delegates and is ideal for seminars and large scale training events. Smaller meeting rooms are each capable of accommodating 18 delegates for board meetings and smaller training meetings. The 14 meeting rooms are spread across the Science Park, some of which are located are located within the new building The Catalyst on the Heslington East campus. A variety of room hire options are available coupled with a fantastic customer service team to look after clients on the day. The team has grown to 15 staff with a strong emphasis on excellent customer service and continual improvement. The York Science Park team were recently re-accredited with Investors in People, attained Customer First accreditation in 2010 and have achieved ISO 9001 for the quality improvement system for over five years.
