History and Objectives
Coventry University Technology Park is set in the heart of the Midlands within easy reach of all major motorway and rail networks. Situated in a prime city centre site for commercial businesses to locate, expand and develop, the Technology Park aims to provide:
  • high quality business accommodation
  • access to innovation and expertise
  • on-site business support and advice
  • Applied Research and development opportunities via University links.
It also seeks to:
  • develop and house joint venture collaborative arrangements between academia and commerce in the areas of new product development and training
  • invite companies from outside the West Midlands region to enter joint ventures with the University and to expand their business operations on the Park.
Coventry University Technology Park
The Technology Park is the base for commercial operations as well as being a successful home for some of the region's most innovative companies. Established since 1998, the Park has a growing portfolio of properties and encompasses the TechnoCentre, housing the Innovation Centre and Conference Centre; the Enterprise Centre, a grow-on business centre for companies who have expanded beyond the Innovation Centre; the Design Hub, where design implementation is key; and the Innovation Village, which offers companies the opportunity of accommodation with their own first 'front-door'. Coventry University's Applied Research Institutes are also based on the Park.

Tenants on the Park and other external organisations, are further supported with office services, including document typing, preparation of photocopying (black and white and colour), mailing facilities and call management services. Other services which are not normally provided by most Technology Parks are available, for example, car valeting, car hire, a personal shopping service (greetings cards and floral arrangements) and dry cleaning.

The urban location of the Park permits occupiers to source nearby retail, recreational and business facilities.

Site Management
One of the Technology Park’s many versatile relaxation zones Operational management is provided by Coventry University Enterprises Ltd (CUE Ltd), the commercial trading arm of Coventry University Higher Education Corporation. CUE Ltd comprises business development, commercial operations, and property and estate management expertise required to deliver the full range of services to the occupiers of the Park. An on-site Bistro and state-of-the-art Conference Centre adds to the breadth of services present on the Park. Complimentary access to the University's library is provided and the extensively equipped Sports Centre is also available at discounted rates to tenants.

CUE Ltd, is awarded BIC (Business Innovation Centre) status by the European Business & Innovation Centre Network. The primary aim of a BIC is two-fold – to support the creation of new enterprises and to support innovation, modernisation and diversification within existing enterprises. This fits clearly with the current push for sectoral and technological change within industry in the West Midlands.

Applied Research Activity
Serious Games Institute (SGI)
Serious Games is an emerging industry sector which seeks to use and extend current capabilities and technology in the established computer games industry, for use in other, non-entertainment applications, such as simulation, education and training.

The SGI aspires to become the leading source of advice, guidance, research and development for Serious Games in the UK, as well as playing a leading role in international debates. It also aims to provide a flagship base for regional companies who will benefit from presenting their products in a prestigious environment.

Institute for Creative Enterprises (ICE)
ICE aims to provide a fully-supported environment for creative graduates and arts practitioners in which they can develop their ideas and practice into flourishing and sustainable creative projects and businesses.

The ICE project brings together cultural practitioners, community arts organisations, arts 'champions' and Coventry School of Art and Design to deliver a unique model of integrated creative and business support for the sub-region's artists and creative enterprises.

Health Design and Technologies Institute (HDTI)
The Institute aims to combine the skills and expertise of Coventry University staff and over 20 partners from the healthcare, telecommunications and product design industries. One of the most important functions is to encourage knowledge transfer with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the local region.

Bringing SMEs, healthcare professionals and service users together creates a multi-disciplinary environment in which information can be shared and develop innovative routes to community healthcare and self-management of health and wellbeing.

HDTI also houses superb mock-up and prototyping areas which are both openly available for hire allowing businesses to further test and develop their products with minimum costs, whilst the observation suite offers additional flexible user space.

The Centre's unique selling point is its Virtual Reality simulation centre providing intensive training in construction site management and offering significant cost savings and risk reduction to the industry.
