Introduction
The Energy Development Centre, The Aberdeen Energy Park Following the establishment of a joint venture between Buccleuch Property and Scottish Enterprise, the international reputation of the now Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks (formerly the Aberdeen Science Parks) will be further enhanced through the implementation of a major investment and development programme.

Having enjoyed international reputations as centres of technological excellence and innovation since they were first established over 20 years ago, the Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks continue to attract companies due to the expansion and advancement in the Energy sector. In order to build on this growth, an extensive programme of refurbishment work is being implemented to upgrade the common facilities across the Parks, along with a rebranding exercise to reflect the Parks' new positioning in the marketplace. Throughout the course of 2011, the global appeal and attraction of the Parks as leaders in R&D in innovative technologies and the energy sector will be advanced with the launch of a new interactive website, tangible rebranding throughout the Parks and an active reengagement programme with the local Aberdeen academic and commercial community as well as those further afield.

The Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks have enjoyed international reputations as centres of technological excellence and innovation since they were first established over 20 years ago... It is the objective for the Parks, through Buccleuch Property and Scottish Enterprise as well as the other public and private stakeholders, to reinforce the position of Aberdeen City Region as a global hub for the development of all-energy technologies. The Aberdeen Energy Park marks the gateway to Energetica which will promote a technology corridor stretching thirty miles from the Bridge of Don area to Peterhead. The Parks are well placed to benefit from the impetus for investment and development generated by Energetica. The City Region also has a research excellence in life and environmental sciences and human health and nutrition. The Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks play a central role in this by providing a unique environment for technology research and innovative design and development to thrive. They offer a dynamic business environment, prime office and research and development facilities with a prestigious address, good transport connections and a culture of collaboration and networking among the 100-plus operating companies. There are now in excess of 800 technology-based companies in Aberdeen alone. The growth of these high technology industries has helped Aberdeen to be recognised as the UK's most competitive city after London and one of the three best knowledge-based locations in the UK. The area is consistently awarded one of the highest quality of life ratings in the UK.

The Aberdeen Energy and Innovation Parks comprise two locations in the Bridge of Don area to the north of Aberdeen.
