In 1999 the Centre was sold to a property development company, since when the complex has been managed as a multi-tenanted research, technical and business centre. Since it changed hands in 1999 The Wilton Centre has had a significant amount of investment ploughed into updating and upgrading the facilities it offers including, most recently, the communal areas such as the reception, exhibition space, and restaurant and café area. It has a track record of experience and expertise built on almost four decades of scientific, technical and managerial achievement, complemented by an array of modern office, laboratory and scale-up space. In 2010 the centre announced it was making a significant investment in a new development to nurture new business opportunities within the process industries. The first of its kind in the UK, The Wilton Centre Innovation Accelerator Incubator is a 10,000 square foot, fully-integrated facility incorporating specialist laboratories and office space, which opened to businesses at the start of 2011 (more details below). The centre prides itself on the level of Information Communications Technology (ICT) support it offers businesses and was described as a flagship for the region in an independent survey. The ict active assessment scheme awarded the centre Ready to Occupy Leading Edge status – the highest possible level of the award. Unique Incubator Facility for Process Industry  From early 2011, the completion of a new development at the centre will provide new and existing businesses from within the science, technology, engineering and life sciences sectors with the ideal base from which to successfully develop their ideas and products.Called The Wilton Centre Innovation Accelerator Incubator (www.innovation-accelerator.co.uk), it is a 10,000 square foot, fully-integrated facility which incorporates ten specialist laboratory/pilot plant units, along with associated equipped communal laboratories and meeting rooms, and provides office space for SMEs working on new business opportunities. It is also the base for the Centre for Process Innovation's (CPI) Innovation Accelerator team of market sector specialists which provides in-depth support to SMEs in areas including market intelligence studies, negotiating the complicated area of intellectual property research, investment planning, networking opportunities, business planning and sources of funding. Office Accommodation There is over 250,000 square feet of quality open-plan and modular serviced office space within The Wilton Centre. The office accommodation – adjacent to the Research and Development facilities as well as in exclusively commercial areas – has the flexibility to satisfy most requirements, ranging from occupation of a single desk or a single office to a full floor, block or dedicated building. Site Management Arrangements Accommodation units range in size from 100 square feet to 30,000 square feet and a choice of short and long-term licence and lease agreements are available at competitive terms with immediate occupancy. A dedicated management team manages all aspects of building operations and additional services offered to Wilton Centre tenants. The centre is open 24/7 and security is maintained by perimeter access control, CCTV and a permanent manned security presence.  The building is cabled to enable connection to a number of ADSL broadband suppliers. The landlord can supply up to 100mbps broadband as well as a Voice over IP telephone service.The inclusive service charge covers most tenant requirements and includes business rates, building insurance, maintenance of the building and grounds, heating, lighting, electricity, fire detection/fire fighting equipment, security, reception, help desk, kitchen facilities, washrooms and showers, cleaning, refuse disposal/recycling, porter service. A Range of Extra Services Help Desk – a central point of contact for building services and information. Parking – there are 1,600 free, secure parking spaces available. Reception – communal visitor and goods reception services (front and back of house). Conference Facilities and Exhibition Area – there are 20 meeting rooms of various sizes available at the centre including a 125-seat lecture theatre with an adjacent flexible exhibition area. Both of these have recently been refurbished which included the installation of up to the minute AV technology. A separate video-conference studio capable of accommodating up to 12 delegates is also available for hire. Free Wi-fi – the latest service to be introduced, this gives visitors access to the internet from the Main Reception area and Wilton Centre-based staff access to the world wide web in meeting rooms and in the Restaurant. Catering – the bright, spacious and modern restaurant, café and shop area is a popular venue for staff working at The Wilton Centre. As well as providing an excellent food choice including home-made produce and international cuisine the restaurant supplies nutritional information for diners wanting to know more about the food they are enjoying. Hospitality services including working lunches, buffets and formal dinners can also be provided at most locations within the centre, while a 'take away' option is now also available for those requiring quick service. The retail shop offers a wide range of goods from greeting cards to home baked products and offers a fee-free cash withdrawal machine.  Communications – emergency and critical information is provided via the site-wide PA system. The Wilton News is a quarterly publication giving tenants the opportunity to publicise their activities and achievements. Ongoing building operations and SHE information is provided by newsletters, notice boards and website.Occupational Health – an occupational health service is available from a tenant on a subscription basis. Information Resource Centre – this service is provided on a subscription basis by Teesside University. Mail and Courier Service – mail is delivered, collected and franked prior to collection by the Royal Mail. A UK and worldwide courier service is provided at competitive rates. All incoming goods are received at a central location and delivered to tenant premises.
