In 1999 the Centre was sold to a property development company, since when the complex has been managed as a multi-tenanted research, technical and business centre. Since it changed hands in 1999 The Wilton Centre has had a significant amount of investment ploughed into updating and upgrading the facilities it offers including, most recently, the communal areas such as the reception, exhibition space, and restaurant and café area. It has a track record of experience and expertise built on almost four decades of scientific, technical and managerial achievement, complemented by an array of modern office, laboratory and scale-up space. In 2010 the centre announced it was making a significant investment in a new development to nurture new business opportunities within the process industries. The first of its kind in the UK, The Wilton Centre Innovation Accelerator Incubator is a 10,000 square foot, fully-integrated facility incorporating specialist laboratories and office space, which opened to businesses at the start of 2011 (more details below). Unique Incubator Facility for Process Industry From early 2011, the completion of a new development at the centre will provide new and existing businesses from within the science, technology, engineering and life sciences sectors with the ideal base from which to successfully develop their ideas and products.Called The Wilton Centre Innovation Accelerator Incubator (www.innovation-accelerator.co.uk), it is a 10,000 square foot, fully-integrated facility which incorporates ten specialist laboratory/pilot plant units, along with associated equipped communal laboratories and meeting rooms, and provides office space for SMEs working on new business opportunities. It is also the base for the Centre for Process Innovation's (CPI) Innovation Accelerator team of market sector specialists which provides in-depth support to SMEs in areas including market intelligence studies, negotiating the complicated area of intellectual property research, investment planning, networking opportunities, business planning and sources of funding. Office Accommodation There is over 250,000 square feet of quality open-plan and modular serviced office space within The Wilton Centre. The office accommodation – adjacent to the Research and Development facilities as well as in exclusively commercial areas – has the flexibility to satisfy most requirements, ranging from occupation of a single desk or a single office to a full floor, block or dedicated building. Free Wi-fi – the latest service to be introduced, this gives visitors access to the internet from the Main Reception area and Wilton Centre-based staff access to the world wide web in meeting rooms and in the Restaurant. Catering – the bright, spacious and modern restaurant, café and shop area is a popular venue for staff working at The Wilton Centre. As well as providing an excellent food choice including home-made produce and international cuisine the restaurant supplies nutritional information for diners wanting to know more about the food they are enjoying. Hospitality services including working lunches, buffets and formal dinners can also be provided at most locations within the centre, while a 'take away' option is now also available for those requiring quick service. The retail shop offers a wide range of goods from greeting cards to home baked products and offers a fee-free cash withdrawal machine.
