Microsoft BizSpark at The University of Warwick Science Park
| Entrepreneurs looking to set-up in the software sector in the West Midlands can take advantage of help from industry giant Microsoft. The international company is signing up network partners on its Microsoft BizSpark programme, which offers start-up companies the chance to use a range of tools and platforms for free as long as they are less than three years old and are turning over less than $1 million (US). The University of Warwick Science Park, which has four sites across Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull, has just become a network partner in the programme. And that means software start-ups in the region can benefit from the software and support on offer from Microsoft through the Science Park. Dirk Schafer, of the University of Warwick Science Park, said: ‘This is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs who are looking to make a mark in software. The tools and platforms provided by Microsoft will allow companies to test and run their own applications and there is also support available too. Microsoft is using this programme to help entrepreneurs transform their ambitions into sustainable businesses and to foster innovation. The programme will help companies in the West Midlands to grow much quicker than they could otherwise have done and we are delighted to be a network partner. Small, start-up software and high-tech companies will be the drivers of growth in this region and every ounce of support should be applauded.’ Bindi Karia, of Microsoft Corp, added: ‘We understand the difficulties start-ups face in trying to create a viable, scalable and sustainable business, especially in today’s economy. Microsoft Bizspark provides start-ups with a unique opportunity to grow their business by taking advantage of the breadth of the Microsoft platform, our global partner ecosystem and new ways to gain market exposure.’ For more information on BizSpark contact Dirk Schafer at the University of Warwick Science Park on 024 7632 3000.
