Metrasens - a sign of success for Malvern Hills Science Park
Malvern Hills Science Park (MHSP) tenant Metrasens, has moved its headquarters out of its current location and into the town’s Enigma Business Park.
Metrasens, a QinetiQ spin-out which develops, manufactures and supplies sophisticated detection technology used in the healthcare and security industries, is one of MHSP’s longest-serving tenants.
The multi-award winning business has been based at the science park since it was set up by just two people seven years ago.
Now, as one of the few companies in the world which produces sophisticated ferromagnetic detection equipment, the company has established itself as global leader in this rapidly growing market and more room is required to allow the company to expand its headquarters headcount to 30 employees by the end of 2012.
The company’s move underlines the value MHSP brings to the local economy in providing the accommodation and support needed to nurture start-up technology businesses.
Alan White, chief executive of MHSP said:
“As such a long-serving tenant, Metrasens’ relocation to larger premises is a watershed for MHSP and we wish the company every success for the future.
“This is, however, also an incredible success story in that it clearly demonstrates the valuable role we play in nurturing fledgling businesses in high-growth sectors which have the potential to impact so positively on the local economy through job creation.
“As we are operating at full capacity and have a wait list for new companies to join us, we look forward to welcoming new fledgling technology businesses seeking to emulate Metrasens’ success.”
Dr Simon Goodyear, founder and CEO of Metrasens added,
“Metrasens continues to grow rapidly, this move following just two months after relocation of our US subsidiary to larger facilities near Chicago. The flexibility offered by MHSP’s state-of-the-art office and laboratory facilities has been fundamental to our exceptional growth.
“Being part of the park’s 300-strong community of like-minded individuals, all exploiting science and technology to help business grow, has also played an important part in making the company the success it is today.”
