University College Dublin (UCD) is ranked 5th in a list of European universities that have produced VC-backed undergraduates according to a new report just published by PitchBook.
PitchBook (www.pitchbook.com) is a Seattle-headquartered research firm for private equity and venture capital data.
According to the Report entitled ‘Top Universities for VC-backed Entrepreneurs’, during the period January 2009 to August 2014, 31 UCD graduate entrepreneurs established 26 companies which raised $112 million in funding.
A spotlight will be shone on Bristol and Bath’s vibrant high tech cluster when the UK becomes the first country to host a nationwide OpenCo innovation festival, backed by Tech City UK.
Now in its third year, OpenCo, which was first launched in San Francisco and later spread to cities including London, will involve clusters from across the UK, including Bristol and Bath’s tech hub.
Kent Science Park (KSP) based company AbBaltis Ltd has successfully started a work experience scheme for students wanting to understand the application of science and medical diagnostics in a professional environment. Despite being only a small business itself, AbBaltis has so far hosted four work experience placements over the summer, ranging from school students through to University graduates.
