Manchester’s First Open Access Biotech Lab Launches

Manchester's first open access laboratory has been launched [9 Oct 17]; providing early-stage biotech and medtech companies, as well as entrepreneurial individual scientists, with unrestricted, pay-as-you-go access to state-of-the-art facilities and multi-million pound equipment.

Oxford innovation's good base for innovation

BASE Bordon Innovation Centre at historic Broxhead House, Whitehill & Bordon, East Hampshire. The enterprise hub, geared at start-ups and growth firms, is run by Oxford Innovation and opens in November 2017. There are 31 offices on flexible rental terms, along with co-working space, meeting rooms for hire and virtual offices.   

New Discovery Park Lab will unlock potential of algae for health and personal care markets


 A science company focused on using algae to meet the growing demand for health-promoting ingredients, has expanded into a new science production facility at Discovery Park.

AlgaeCytes has developed a process that captures the properties of algae to produce high value ingredients for the health and personal care markets and intends to use its new space to scale up production to meet demand.

Wolverhampton's new £10 million Science Centre open for business

The University of Wolverhampton recently showcased its investment in a new £10 million Science Centre addition on its Science Park to potential tenants recently.

Almost 50 visitors toured the new three-storey Science, Technology and Prototyping facility which was recently completed by Clegg Construction and provides a unique combination of laboratory, workshop and high-specification office spaces. 

Enploy: The EdTech start-up getting the West Midlands young talent work ready

Birmingham-based EdTech start-up company Enploy has pledged its support for the region’s young talent in a bid to get more people ready for the world of work by developing their entrepreneurial way of thinking.

The company, based at the Innovation Birmingham Campus, has kicked-off the initiative by launching its first six-week programme on 12th October, equipping 25 young people from Aston University and Sandwell College with a greater skillset to prepare for the start of their careers.
