...and provided a fitting eve to the next day's Conference Delegates were kindly welcomed to Manchester by Robert Hough, Chairman of the Northwest Development Agency Keynote Speakers were Jonathan Kestenbaum, CEO of NESTA, who tackled the recession... 
...and Emma FitzGerald from Shell International, who considered environmental challenges Speakers Mark Thompson from UMIP, John Leake from Daresbury SIC and David Hardman from Birmingham SP Aston looked at 'Partnerships' Whilst Allyson Reed from the Technology Strategy Board, Rachel Park from HDR CUH2A and David Leon of David Leon & Associates tackled 'Place' 
Tom Cannon of Ideopolis International and Henry Etzkowitz from the Triple Helix Group tackled the theme of 'People' Two further sessions on 'Partnerships' included contributions from Brian More of Coventry University, Sally Ann Forsyth from Colworth Science Park and Sten Gunnar Johansson from Mjärdevi Science Park... ...plus John Allen of Pythia Consulting, Peter Maxwell from Waikato Innovation Park and Norman Apsley from Northern Ireland Science Park 
The day's final session, 'Back to Science Parks', saw contributions from incoming UKSPA Chairman Malcolm Parry of Surrey Research Park... ...and UKSPA Companion Charles Monck of Charles Monck & Associates A round-up of the day's content was provided by Walter Herriot of Herriot Associates Ltd, who was also welcomed as a Companion of UKSPA
