A health app development company in Warwick has been presented with a prestigious industry award.
Evolyst has won a Medilink West Midlands Healthcare Business Award, which recognises the region’s most innovative and successful medical and healthcare companies.
The business, based at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Warwick Innovation Centre, was presented with the Supply Chain Award – beating off tough competition from a number of well-established firms.
Evolyst specialises in health and care apps and software and has been supported along the way by the Science Park’s Ignite programme that assists in business support and commercial space.
At the award ceremony, at the Park Regis Hotel in Birmingham, the company was commended on its work on the SlowMo app, developed in conjunction with King’s College of London; and the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, the Royal College of Art; which provides digital therapy for people with severe mental health problems.
Ben Skirth, Creative Director at Evolyst, said: “Medilink is a renowned organisation so it is wonderful to win such a respected award.
“We are very pleased to be recognised, especially as we were up against some very well-established companies.”
Evolyst specialises in software development, graphic design, research and mobile strategy for the health and care industry, and run an eHealth blog on their website.
The firm joined the Science Park’s Ignite incubator but has seen a considerable amount of growth, moving to a bigger commercial office at the Science Park’s Warwick Innovation Centre to cope with an increase in staff and business.
Ben added: “The Science Park has been very supportive and has been able to accommodate our growth, giving us the opportunity to move to larger spaces when we have needed to.”
“Looking to the future, we are working on a number of projects, including developing the SlowMo app further & Health Heroes, an Innovate UK funded app designed to help families balance their food portion sizes, which goes to Beta trial next month.”
“We are also on the lookout for new projects and would love to collaborate with individuals and companies in this area.”
Evolyst are now also benefitting from additional support from Warwick Science Park’s Business Ready programme to help them adapt to their recent growth and prepare future growth plans.
Dirk Schafer, Business Adviser at Warwick Science Park, said: “I have been working with Evolyst since they started their business with us and I am excited to see them being so successful as well as receiving an award.
“They have clearly identified a market need and are offering something that is in high demand. Digital healthcare is very much around us already and we will see more of it in the future and Evolyst as a company is well positioned to occupy this space.”
Karen Aston, manager of the Warwick Innovation Centre, added: “We would like to congratulate Evolyst on winning a Medilink West Midlands Healthcare Business Award. They were up against some tough competition, but their skills and innovation shone through.
“It’s been great to be able to support Evolyst’s growth and provide a range of help throughout this. We look forward to seeing their future projects come to fruition.”
