Culham Innovation Centre Celebrates New Look with Opening Event

Representatives from Oxfordshire’s science and technology sector recently joined current and graduated customers of Culham Innovation Centre, managed by Oxford Innovation, for a networking event to celebrate the completion of the Centre’s refurbishment and rebranding.

The centre’s £50,000 investment includes the creation of new lab space, a complete refresh of the communal areas and a rebrand, which included a new reception area and logo.

With occupancy at its highest level in two years, now at 92 per cent, Sandie Alcock, centre manager, Culham Innovation Centre, is confident that the Centre will reach full capacity by the end of the year. She said:

“We’re delighted the refurbishment and rebranding has been so well received by our guests and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed the chance to speak with customers who are singing the praises of the new look. This investment is just the start of the great plans we have for Culham Innovation Centre with an ambitious investment strategy in the years to come.”

The lab space proved particularly popular as guests toured the facility commenting on the importance of investment by organisations such as Oxford Innovation in providing affordable shared laboratory and office space in the county.

Sandie Alcock continues: “The demand for our lab space as well as the newly refurbished offices has surpassed our initial expectations. We look forward to welcoming many more start-ups and university spin-outs looking to join a thriving science and technology community right here at Culham Innovation Centre.”

The opening event, hosted by Oxford Innovation’s Managing Director, Chris Allington, and Jo Willett, Business Development and Marketing Director, heralds the start of a series of inter-centre networking events which will give customers from other Oxford Innovation managed centres the chance to meet on a more regular basis to share knowledge and experiences.

Culham Innovation Centre has played a key role in supporting the growth of some of the UK’s most innovative businesses such as Reaction Engines Limited The company is on an exciting to journey creating SABRE engine, a space engine that could send aircraft into space five times the speed of sound.
