The Parallel sessions include:
Creating local growth: Networks and Clusters
Speakers from SEMLEP will be introducing their Innovation Centre network, and describing why as a LEP they consider the centres to be so important to the local economy for both growth and inward investment, and how this is linked to their Velocity business support offering.
They will be joined by Roz Bird of Silverstone Park Innovation Centre who will talk about the high-tech Cluster Report she is heading up, how she persuaded so many local partners to come on board, and how she sees it benefiting the local area.
Social Science Parks – Society’s new super-labs
The conference will look at recent NESTA research on SPARKs: purpose-built facilities co-locating social scientists with other disciplines and collaborators from private, public and third sectors. The session will include a presentation by the reports co-author Professor Rick Delbridge who is Cardiff University’s Dean of Research, Innovation & Enterprise and the academic lead for its development of SPARK (Social Science Research Park) and co-author of the study.
Social Enterprises and Social Ventures: Innovation and Incubation
Caroline Hyde will be one of the speakers in this session and is Director of Workspace & Enterprise Support at Allia. Caroline oversees the running of Future Business Centres in Cambridge and Peterborough and developing the business proposition for future centres in East London and beyond.
Caroline is responsible for the overall strategy and delivery of their business support programmes including Social Incubator East and the Business Growth & Advisory Programme. The centres support social and environmental entrepreneurs and ventures to successfully develop, grow and make an impact through the provision of business support, incubation, access to finance and workspace.
Colworth Park engages with the local community in many ways including by provision of shared sporting facilities and local team sponsorship.
One session will be looking at good practice in stakeholder engagement looking at the multiplicy of staekeholders relationships with tenants, entrepreneurs and national/local government as well as local stakeholders to deliver positive relationswith the community.
Colworth Park is close to Bedford and the chosen conference hotel is The Park Inn by Raddison on the River Ouse in the Centre of Bedford.
Coach travel has been arranged between Colworth and Bedford (Park Inn Hotel) on Thursday evening and Friday morning.
The Thursday evening Reception and Dinner will be held at The Embankment in Central Bedford.
