Paul Wright, BA Chief Executive

My career started in 1979 when I joined the Civil Service as a management trainee. Whilst undertaking foundation management training I was sponsored by the Department of Education to graduate in economics. I had a broad-based introduction to several government departments working on national skills training and business development policies for 8 years. I then moved on to join an embryonic Prince’s Youth Business Trust, where as Regional Director, I established the Board in Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, and helped to start and develop over 50 new businesses.

I was recruited onto the development team of the Cambridgeshire Training and Enterprise Council in the early 1990s to developing strategic plans for education, training, and business support services, and held the position of Director of Business Services. I was part of the Business Link development team, and became Director of Operations and Human Resources in 1998 when the TEC and Business Link merged.
