Paul Carver DipSurv, MRICS  Director

Paul started his career in 1982, with the property division of National Westminster Bank, firstly based in Crawley, West Sussex and then in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, at the latter office being responsible for the Bank’s operational portfolio in the East of England. He dealt with all aspects of Estate Management whilst at the Bank, including the development and refurbishment of the Bank’s branch network and its computer centre in Kegworth, Leicestershire.

Paul left the Bank in 1989 to further his career with a small independent firm of surveyors in London, dealing mainly with the portfolio of a publicly-quoted property company, involved in the refurbishment and redevelopment of commercial office buildings in Central London.

In joining Granby Martin in 1991, Paul took overall responsibility for the management of properties on behalf of clients, both institutional and privately-owned, specialising in properties let to companies in the small business sector. He took over the management of Central London’s only Science Park, South Bank Technopark in January 1993 which had been failing and was not letting to appropriate technology-based companies. The building was turned round by the time it was sold to London, South Bank University in 1997.

He has undertaken various Science Park and technology consultancy work, including acting as science park consultant to a developer on a south east science park development, tenant demand research for a specialist innovation centre in Yorkshire, researching the viability of an innovation centre at a former agricultural college and as an adviser to a County Council on its technology strategy.

Paul is now treasurer and secretary of the Association, his second spell on the board. His firm have been Business Affiliates of the Association since 1994.
