UKSPA International Collaboration

Over the last twenty years the UK Science Park Association (UKSPA) has identified many aspects of good practice in the development of science parks. UKSPA recognises the value of good practice information to the developers of science parks overseas and the value of overseas science parks becoming members of the association.

Overview: Overseas Science Park Development Work
UKSPA represents over 60 science parks in the UK. We aim to:
  • Assist the planning, development and management of science parks
  • Provide a forum for developing collaborative initiatives
  • Develop links to strengthen technology transfer to help growth of business enterprise
  • Facilitate the interchange of concepts, ideas and experiences
The term science park is used to describe a business support and technology transfer initiative that:
  • Encourages and supports the start-up, incubation and growth of innovation-led, high-growth and knowledge-based businesses
  • Provides an environment where larger and international businesses can develop specific and close interactions with a particular centre of knowledge creation for their mutual benefit
  • Has formal and operational links with centres of knowledge creation such as universities, higher education institutes and research organisations
