| Overview Daresbury SIC is one of two national Science and Innovation Campuses with the North West Regional Development Agency (NWDA), Science and Technology Facilities Council, universities of Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester, and Halton Borough Council as stakeholders. The Campus sets out to be internationally-recognised for world-class science, innovation and enterprise and to support successful collaborations that will help to deliver this as well as create prosperous, knowledge-based businesses and high skills jobs. It is home to nearly 100 high-tech businesses in sectors such as biomedical, digital/ICT/telecoms, advanced engineering/instrumentation and low carbon technologies. Daresbury SIC currently holds the UKSPA award of ‘Outstanding Science Park’. This is the award for the Science Park seen to be ‘setting the pace’ and making the most significant contribution to the exploitation of the knowledge base.
